There Is No Silver Bullet…

The Marginal Gains That Drive Ticket Revenue

Every venue wants to increase revenue, attendance and customer loyalty. The challenge is that there isn’t a single tactic, technology or marketing campaign that will suddenly transform results.

This opening session explores why sustainable growth comes not from one breakthrough idea, but from relentlessly improving dozens of small improvements that, together, create a significant competitive advantage.

Using real examples from across the ticket buying journey, we’ll explore opportunities for marginal gains...

13:40 - 14:05

Who is the on-sale moment actually for?

Every marketing team knows the feeling: a high-stakes moment is approaching, everyone has an opinion about what it should look like, and the pressure to make the biggest possible splash can be overwhelming. Season launches, major announcements, on-sales… these are the moments when internal expectations run highest and the temptation to try to do everything at once is hardest to resist.
This session uses a case study from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to explore...

14:40 - 15:30 Lightning Talks (10 minutes each)

Lightning Talk 1 : “Who’s round is it anyway?”

Many customers have a drink or a bite to eat before a show, and of course there is always the challenge of the interval. Many of us also offer discounts or incentives to audience members. Are we missing something by not joining up this data with the customer experience?
In this lightning talk, Storyhouse will show how they sped up service and increased total guest value, validated membership discounts, and gained key insights into audience spending...

Lightning Talk 2: The Price Is Right

Ticketing and the DMCC Act

The DMCC Act’s price transparency rules apply across the whole customer journey, including ticketing websites, event listings, emails, social media and advertising.
This ten-minute talk will cover:
  • when marketing becomes an “invitation to purchase”;
  • how mandatory fees should be reflected in advertised prices;
  • the risks of adding charges later in the booking journey; and
  • why ticketing and marketing teams need to work together on compliance.
The key message is simple: price transparency is...

Lightning Talk 3: Driving membership sales with a clearer value proposition

In 2025 Wolverhampton Grand Theatre introduced a new membership upsell feature. This calculated and displayed the exact savings a customer would receive with an active membership. It enabled users to quickly add a membership to their basket, immediately applying the relevant discount to their tickets.

As soon as this went live they saw a increase in membership sales compared to the same period the previous year and the feature received great feedback.
In this session, Emma will walk through the...

Lightning Talk 4: Don’t Call Us…..Automating Ticketing Upgrades

This lighting will take a (quick) deep drive in the to the journey the Lost Estate has been on to enable better options for their customers to upgrade their seats.

It will cover

  • That manual upgrades are problematic,  both time-consuming and manual to process.
  • It’s hard to gauge the real interest customers have in upgrading, so missed  they missed sales opportunities
  • How they automated the upgrades process along with different approaches between different shows
  • A run down on the processes...

Lightning Talk 5 : Turning ideas into reality

Drawing on real examples from from her own career (including her own mistakes)

Jo offers a practical framework for how employees can confidently present revenue boosting ideas to leadership without fear.

In this short presentation she share:

  • the exact language that works
  • how leaders can create space for these ideas to surface in the first place.

How your everyday AI tools can help with revenue generation

This session takes AI from concept to practical revenue generation.

We’ll set the scene with a few AI fundamentals and ways to mitigate low quality outputs, before walking through real world examples of how the tools you already have access to can be put to work on pricing, packaging, audience growth or customer retention.

Whether you have access to Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini at work, we’ll share tangible,...

The Return of Returns! Turning a Box Office Headache into a Revenue Opportunity

For many venues, ticket returns are seen as an unavoidable cost of doing business—a necessary service that creates extra work for Box Office teams. But what if returns could actually improve customer experience and reduce staff workload, all while generating new income?

This session tells the story of how Shakespeare’s Globe and Action Links reimagined the ticket returns journey, replacing a phone line process with a fully automated, self-service online experience. Discover how removing friction for...

Enter It Once: The Ticketing System as the Source of Truth

Between ticketing, donations, memberships, food and beverage, advertising, and CRM, modern venues often juggle a half-dozen disconnected systems – each hoarding a fragmented slice of the same customer data. In today’s increasingly connected digital ecosystem, establishing a single source of truth matters more than ever. A unified system eliminates administrative bottlenecks and automatically builds the contextual data layer that AI needs to thrive.

This session explores how Cadogan Hall is working to position its ticketing system...
