Megan Conman has gained considerable knowledge of the concerns, complaints and experiences of ticket buyers since joining the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR) as External Relations Manager in 2016.
As well as providing general advice and guidance to prospective ticket buyers, she works with customers and tickets sellers to help resolve disputes – fulfilling a service which has been available to customers of STAR members for more than 20 years.
Soon after joining STAR, she began working to ensure that STAR was approved by the Government as an authorised body for ADR under the Alternative Dispute Resolution for Consumer Disputes (Competent Authorities and Information) Regulations 2015. This approval was granted by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute in June 2017.
The numbers of contacts from customers with complaints and from prospective buyers continues to increase, with over 1,000 recorded per year in 2017 and 2018. These disputes, which can often be quite challenging by the time they reach STAR, encompass promoters, producers, venues, ticket agents and resale and across all types of live entertainment and sports.
Meg enjoys opportunities for frank and open discussion with the STAR Council, members, regulators and other experts in the industry about issues raised regularly by consumers, as well as the more complex cases brought to STAR for dispute resolution or general advice.
