Well here we are with TPC2017 almost upon us. It seems like only yesterday that ‘the Brits’ got together at the Denver INTIX conference two years ago and decided to launch a new ticketing conference this side of the pond. What a ride it has been and I am excited and delighted with our 2017 programme of speakers, and it has been hard to choose my key picks.
As a theatre ticketeer however, I am really looking forward to Angela Gahan’s case study, coming to us all the way from Australia. The session promises to give us some practical solutions for maximising revenue even when you only have the worst seats in the house left, Selling that last 2%.
I am delighted that Angela will also be taking part in the International Ticketing Trends panel, one of the closing sessions on day one. The panel will also include the INTIX President and CEO Maureen Andersen for a stateside perspective, chaired by none other than the ticketing legend that is Doug Smith. Watch this space for more panellists from across the globe yet to be announced. Always a fun way to learn what differs and what we all have in common in this mad (yet small) ticketing world.
And who doesn’t love a ‘house full’ sign, apart from the queue of expectant folk waiting for returns or the ‘000s who couldn’t get a look in online in the first place (Hamilton ticket anyone?) On Friday, Richard Hilton from SecuTix will deal with how balloting and corporate distribution for hot ticket events can be managed in a fair way. With theatre becoming ever more popular I am keen to hear how to avoid the pitfalls from someone who has international experience.
It promises to be a crazy busy few days and I can’t wait to meet up with friends old and new and share a few stories. See you in Birmingham.
